September 2011 - Northwest Artist and Educator, Satoko - Benefit for Japan

The artist we are featuring in September 2011 is Satoko.
Our guests will be entertained by Peter Zisa on classical guitar and Yukiko on the Japanese koto.

10% of all sales will be donated to benefit the tsunami victims of Japan.
Artist Statement (excerpt):

"My focus is on the concept of the transient nature of life events. Constant change is inescapable in life. Various phenomena in nature such as shifting light, seasonal transformation, changes in weather and flickering reflections on water are metaphors of the shifting nature of life. Observing these external elements, I internalize my reactions in my work."

"Creative activity gives us realistic optimism and strength to cope with life's journey, since it helps one to realize that even the smallest sensory discoveries can bring brilliance to life."

"Without darkness, how can we appreciate light?
Without pain, how can we deepen our joy?
By embracing both one can be whole."
